In this small battery-powered sculpture we see an example of how motion can be used to engage people in re-thinking energy-awareness. How do we spend our time? Are we working to live or living to work? In this way Martin has taken on a investigative or exploratory role in identifying certain social problems and how they are connected to the bigger picture. Art can change the way people look at things and push the boundaries on common social discourse. Often art can also pinpoint a sense of historical context and leaves the viewer to reflect on new patterns of thought. Of course, with Martin's mini-sculptures everyone leaves with a smile on their face too!
